United Way of Hood County started Ruth's Place, a free health clinic for women and children.

Community Needs Assessment conducted in 2006 - #1 problem indicated by the community and community leaders is drug abuse.
Needs Assessment Committee on Drug Abuse formed in 2007.
In 2008 the Needs Assessment Committee on Drug Abuse made a series of 27 broad-based recommendations to be implemented.
