Partner Agencies What Your Donations Do Selection Criteria
What Your Donations Do:
Your donation helps people like these:
- My name is Sharon.
I am eleven and like coming to Boys & Girls Club because it was fun
and I didn't have to worry about things. One week the club gave prizes
for report cards, AB Honor Roll, and stuff. I didn't want to show my
report card. I knew my grandmother would kill me because of my grades.
The next day when I came back to the club, the counselor noticed some
bruises on me. He had a hard time understanding why I got beaten
because my report card said 4 A's and 1 B. The Boys & Girls Club is a
safe and fun place.
- I am Sam. Last May I was
diagnosed with leukemia. As a father of two, I was devastated beyond
belief. Shortly after receiving such shocking news, my son was killed in
a car accident. To meet the financial burden of cancer, my daughter and
I moved in with my sister and her family. Six of us lived in her small
house. Although I am weary from fighting cancer, I continue to work at
the school district to support my daughter. Cancer Care Services has
generously provided assistance for my medicines, cases of Boost (which
is the only thing I can keep down), and transportation reimbursement for
treatments. Thanks to Cancer Care much of my burden has been lifted.
- Dear Santa,
I heard my daddy say that he didn't have any money for Christmas
presents this year, but I have been really good this year and I know you
will bring me a new bike. My friend Bobby got a bike last year and I
want one just like it.
Love, Beverly
- My name is Mary. I have
a hereditary brain disease and have had 3 surgeries. I cannot remember
the name of the disease. My husband left me and our 2 children because
he could not cope with the disease. My 6-year-old son was recently
diagnosed with the same disease. My house had a water leak that caused
the water bill to be out of reach. The Emergency Network stepped in and
found a plumber to repair the leak at a fraction of the actual cost.
They also assisted me with paying the water bill.
- My name is Jerry. I am
an 84-year old widower living alone in the home I shared with my wife
for 40 years. Due to crippling arthritis and several other ailments, my
daily routine consists of making my way from the bed to the recliner
assisted by a walker. I look forward to visits from Sue, a Senior
Citizen Center volunteer, who brings me a hot meal 5 days a week. Many
weeks Sue is the only visitor I have.
