Susie's parents could
not afford to pay the electricity bill. To avoid total darkness, her
mother used candles for light. Fire broke out and destroyed the entire
house and contents. With no insurance, the family now had no clothes, no
food and no shelter. The American Red Cross was able to provide
temporary lodging, clothing and food until the family could provide for
themselves.
