Foster Parent Association:

Hood/Erath County Foster Parent Association

Beth and Ben are brother and sister. They came to their foster home with only the clothes on their backs. The foster parents took them to their first picnic and trip to the zoo. Foster parents take care of children who need to know there is love in the world. Many come from broken and abusive homes.

People served in Hood County in 2004: 74

The principal purpose of the Association is to provide for foster children in Hood/Erath counties who are in the legal custody of the Department of Human Resources, and who are living with foster parents in foster homes. In order to provide cultural, psychological, physical and emotional growth and development for these foster children, the Association attempts to promote and enhance mutual coordination, cooperation, and communication among foster parents via the Foster Parent Association; to work in cooperation with public and private child care agencies in improving foster care services, to encourage recruitment and retention of foster parents and others working in the field of foster family care, to inform the membership of this Association and others of the general public interested in the well being of all children and in particular, children needing foster care services, to enhance availability of all services to foster children in Hood and Erath Counties.
